Our summer Calculator Skills Courses are designed to help students use their TI-84 Calculator more effectively and efficiently on the ACT/PSAT/SAT!

Join us for one or all three sessions to improve your calculator skills. Improving calculator skills helps students achieve more correct answers and saves valuable time.
Wednesday, June 28th, 10:00 am – 11:00 am, 3 of 3 sessions.

The overall combination of courses (3 in total) will take you through many of the functions of the calculator, step-by-step, telling you which buttons to press and how they can be used to help you with questions.

The ACT/PSAT/SAT not only tests your content knowledge but also your ability to answer questions quickly. Understanding how to use the TI-84 CE calculator can help you speed through the test efficiently while knowing that your answer is 100% correct. While the PSAT and SAT changing to allow calculators on the full math section, learning these skills will be invaluable.

TI-84 Technology Skills we will look at:

Substituting values, graphing equations, using the trace feature, solving systems graphically, graphing inequalities, solving equations numerically and graphically, finding mean and median, regression, matrices and determinants, complex numbers, least common multiple, logarithms, scientific notation, composition of functions

ACT/PSAT/SAT testing strategies:
Eliminating incorrect answers, solving problems by working backward, avoiding distractors, substitution, thinking graphically, calculating percentages, using diagrams strategically, attention to units

Activities to deepen understanding:
Area and Perimeter, Slope, Absolute Value, Statistics and Probability, Pythagorean Theorem, Trig Graphing, Fractions
